What Is Superbonder Lash Sealant? Your Questions Answered

Superbonder is a professional lash adhesive sealant applied at the end of an eyelash extension treatment. It helps cure the adhesive while maintaining flexibility in the glue bonds, supporting retention and reducing exposure to remaining adhesive fumes.

Whether you are finishing a classic set, Russian Volume lashes or an infill, correct application makes this a useful finishing step. Here, we explain how Superbonder works, when to apply it and how it differs from other retention products.

      What Does Superbonder Do?

London Lash Superbonder Sealant is designed to polymerise eyelash extension adhesive without shock curing when used according to its instructions.

It helps maintain elasticity in the adhesive bonds, allowing them to move with the natural lashes rather than becoming brittle and breaking prematurely.

Sealing the bonds also helps reduce exposure to remaining adhesive fumes at the end of the appointment. Superbonder supports your treatment routine, but it does not replace correct preparation, precise attachment or suitable working conditions.

Why Do Lash Artists Use Superbonder?

Superbonder brings several practical benefits to the final stage of a lash appointment:

      • Supports retention by helping adhesive bonds remain flexible.
      • Helps reduce exposure to remaining adhesive fumes.
      • Allows clients to get their extensions wet once the treatment and recommended drying stage are complete.
      • Works with professional eyelash extension adhesives without requiring you to change your usual glue.
      • Requires only a small amount applied directly to the adhesive area.

For a busy salon, a consistent finishing routine can support client satisfaction and make aftercare easier to explain. Results still depend on the quality of the application and the client’s ongoing care.

      When Should You Use Superbonder?

Use Superbonder as the final step of a suitable eyelash extension treatment, after completing the application and checking thoroughly for stickies.

Stickies occur when lashes become unintentionally bonded together. These must be separated before finishing the treatment: Superbonder will not correct them or compensate for poor isolation.

It can be incorporated into both full-set and infill appointments. Always follow the instructions supplied with your current bottle.

How to Apply Superbonder Lash Sealant

      1. Finish applying the extensions and check the entire set for stickies.
      2. Keep the client’s eyes closed throughout application.
      3. Place one small drop of Superbonder onto a clean microfibre brush. Dab away excess so the applicator is not saturated.
      4. Carefully apply a tiny amount along the adhesive bonds, targeting the bottom 2–3mm of the extensions where the glue is located.
      5. Avoid contact with the skin and prevent liquid from entering the eyes.
      6. Allow the product to air dry for 1–2 minutes, following the current product instructions.
      7. Complete your final checks before removing the eyepatches and allowing the client to open their eyes.

You only need a small amount. Soaking the lashes does not improve the result and increases the risk of liquid reaching the eye area.

Why Does Flexible Lash Glue Matter?

Natural lashes move throughout the day. A flexible adhesive bond can accommodate that movement, helping the extension remain attached.

A brittle bond is more likely to fracture as the lashes move. Superbonder supports bond flexibility, but retention also depends on preparation, adhesive freshness, room conditions, attachment and aftercare.

Clients should still avoid rubbing, pulling or sleeping directly on their extensions. A finishing product does not make the lashes resistant to every form of daily wear.

      Does Superbonder Cause Shock Polymerisation?

Superbonder is formulated to cure lash adhesive without shock polymerisation when applied correctly.

Shock polymerisation happens when adhesive cures too rapidly. It can leave the glue looking white or frosted and create a brittle bond that contributes to poor retention.

Applying excessive liquid to fresh adhesive can cause problems, so use the recommended amount and application method. Read our guide to shock polymerisation in eyelash extension glue for more detail.

Does Superbonder Work with Any Lash Glue?

London Lash describes Superbonder as compatible with all professional eyelash extension adhesives. You can therefore incorporate it into your routine without changing your preferred professional glue.

This compatibility applies to eyelash extension adhesive. Superbonder is not intended for strip-lash glue, DIY cluster bonds or other cosmetic adhesives.

Continue to follow your adhesive’s working requirements, including its recommended temperature, humidity and application speed.

Can You Put Superbonder in a Nanomister?

No. Superbonder must be applied directly to the adhesive area with a microfibre brush. Do not put it into a nanomister, spray bottle or other device that disperses the liquid into the air.

Misting is not the intended application method and can expose the client or technician to the product through inhalation or unwanted skin and eye contact.

Do You Need a Nanomister as Well?

A nanomister is not required to complete the Superbonder application. Follow the product instructions rather than adding an extra misting step.

Excessive moisture or incorrect nanomister use can affect adhesive curing. Superbonder provides a targeted finishing step without needing to mist the lashes.

What Is the Difference Between Superbonder and Retention & Speed Booster?

Both products support your lash application routine, but they have different purposes and application areas.

Product When to Use It Where to Apply It Main Purpose
Superbonder Sealant At the end of the treatment Directly to the adhesive bonds with a microfibre brush Helps cure the adhesive and maintain bond flexibility
Retention & Speed Booster When preparing extensions for application At the base of the extensions while they are on the strip or lash palette Supports application speed and helps prevent adhesive travelling up the fibre and closing volume fans

Retention & Speed Booster should not be applied to the client’s natural lashes or used with Easy Fanning lashes. Superbonder is the finishing product applied to the completed adhesive bonds. Follow each product’s separate instructions.

Can Clients Get Their Lashes Wet After Superbonder?

According to London Lash’s current product guidance, correctly applied Superbonder seals the adhesive bonds so clients can get their extensions wet after the treatment and recommended drying stage are complete.

This can be convenient for clients who want to shower, exercise or swim after their appointment. However, it does not remove the need for careful aftercare.

Clients should still cleanse their lashes with a suitable lash cleanser, brush them gently and avoid pulling or rubbing the extensions. Explain the aftercare requirements for the products used during their appointment rather than automatically repeating a general 24-hour drying rule.

      Does Superbonder Prevent Allergic Reactions?

No. Superbonder is not an allergy treatment and does not make eyelash extension adhesive suitable for someone with a known adhesive allergy.

Sealing the bonds can help reduce exposure to remaining adhesive fumes, but irritation and allergic reactions are different issues. Do not promise that Superbonder will prevent either condition.

If a client has a history of reacting to lash adhesive, follow your consultation and professional treatment protocols rather than using Superbonder as a workaround.

Can You Use Superbonder on Every Client?

Superbonder can be used at the end of many professional lash extension appointments, subject to the client’s suitability and the product instructions.

Avoid treating any cosmetic product as universally suitable. Review the client’s history, relevant sensitivities and the manufacturer’s guidance before including it in their treatment.

What Is the Shelf Life of Superbonder?

The published London Lash blog guidance lists an unopened shelf life of two years and a six-month period of use after opening. Always check the label and instructions supplied with your current bottle, particularly where formulations or packaging have changed.

Write the opening date on the bottle so you can track its period of use. Follow the stated storage instructions and replace the product when required.

How Long Does a Bottle Last?

Superbonder is applied in small quantities, so a bottle can cover many appointments. The number of treatments depends on the bottle size, the amount dispensed and any product lost during application.

Use the recommended small amount rather than trying to achieve a fixed number of appointments per bottle. Keep track of your salon’s actual usage to plan replenishment and calculate costs accurately.

How Much Does Superbonder Cost per Treatment?

The cost depends on the current bottle price, bottle size and how much product you use. Check the Superbonder product page for the latest price and available sizes.

To calculate your treatment cost, divide the bottle price by the number of appointments it lasts in your own salon. Include this finishing step in your service costs alongside adhesive, preparation products and disposables.

Can Superbonder Help with Client Retention?

Clients value comfortable appointments, clear aftercare advice and lash sets that perform consistently between infills. Superbonder can support those goals as part of a well-executed treatment.

However, repeat bookings depend on the whole experience, including styling, application quality, communication and realistic expectations. Explain Superbonder’s role without guaranteeing a particular number of weeks of wear.

Will Superbonder Fix Poor Lash Retention?

Superbonder can support retention, but it cannot repair an attachment that was not formed correctly during application.

If a client is losing extensions prematurely, review:

      • How thoroughly the natural lashes were prepared.
      • Whether the adhesive suits your application speed and room conditions.
      • The freshness and storage of your adhesive.
      • The amount of glue used and the quality of the attachment.
      • Isolation and any remaining stickies.
      • The client’s cleansing routine and daily aftercare.

Use Superbonder as part of a consistent treatment routine alongside good preparation, precise application and clear aftercare advice. Explore London Lash Superbonder Sealant for the current product details and instructions.
