How to Work with Coloured Eyelash Extensions
Coloured lashes are beautiful and often don’t get the recognition they deserve. Whether your client wants a subtle hint of colour or a bold set, here are five ways to work coloured extensions into your treatments.
1. Use Clear Eyelash Extension Glue
For a bright look that really pops, use a clear eyelash extension glue such as Crystal Bond. A clear adhesive makes the attachment points less noticeable, especially when you’re working with white, pastel or brightly coloured lashes.
2. Create an Eyeliner Effect
A black-pigmented eyelash extension glue can create a more defined eyeliner effect. Options include Royal Bond, Satin Bond, Lady Bond, Power Bond and Flexie. Try black glue with brown lashes for a more defined lash line, or use clear glue with sky blue lashes to keep the focus on the colour.
Keep your attachment points neat, as they can be more visible on coloured sets. For more advice on adhesive and application, read our lash retention tips.
3. Mix and Match
Try colours that complement your client’s eyes. A few ocean blue lashes at the outer corners can draw attention to blue eyes. For green eyes, add a hint of green lashes to the bottom layer of natural lashes.
Contrasting colours can work just as well. Try warm orange lashes against blue eyes or hot pink lashes against brown eyes.
4. Play with Layers
Place coloured extensions on different layers of the natural lashes to change how much colour is visible. On the top layer, a hint of colour can show when your client blinks or closes their eyes.
For a subtler effect, place colour in the middle layer among black Chelsea lashes.
For a more visible pop of colour, apply the coloured extensions to the bottom layer of the natural lashes.
5. Combine Colours
Mix black Mayfair lashes with coloured extensions for a wearable everyday look. For clients who want more colour, try a full set in two shades. The look below, worn by London Lash Affiliate Trainer Shareen Nesbeth, pairs electric blue with violet lashes.
